Lord have mercy, I just created a blog.
So, the point of this is to stay in touch while I am traveling for the next few months. If you want to have this emailed to you automatically every time I update it, just let me know, and I'll add you to the list.
The other point of this blog is to try to be present in my surroundings by writing about them. I know-- seems like an oxymoron-- sitting down, staring at a lifeless computer screen as a means of being present. But for me, carrying a pen and paper around is not very different from carrying a camera around my neck. Writing and photography both make me slow down, focus on the details, and compose a shot that at least attempts to capture what I am experiencing. In order to record beauty, you first have to notice, examine, and attempt to understand it. We'll see how I do...
